Leah Stein Dance Company and choreographer Asimina Chremos are calling Philadelphians of varied backgrounds and abilities to take part in a communal performance project on site at Love Park. We are looking for up to 30 people to join us in creating, learning, and performing a 20-minute group dance incorporating simple activities such as walking, smiling, making eye contact, being aware of space, and standing. This dance is meant to show how togetherness is a given, and that there is art in the everyday movement of people in public space. Come learn techniques for mindfulness in everyday life and make new friends!

RISE: Relationship is Self Existing, is a new collaboration between Leah Stein and Asimina Chremos engaging community members to perform at Love Park. RISE raises awareness of the momentary spatial relationships, groupings, and constellations of togetherness created by everyday folks in our city as they travel from place to place.

This event takes place out of doors in Love Park, access is directly from the street, there are no stairs, doors, or gates. Surfaces are cement and grass. There is no seating, audience will participate (walking, standing); or view from standing, sitting on ground or available benches.

Audience members are invited to participate in the performance as guided by the performers. The performers will lead the viewers in simple choreographic prompts to fully engage with the site. Audience members are welcome to watch and enjoy without participating actively. Folks of all abilities are welcome to participate. Walking is not required for participation.
